Check the streaming subscription plan:
If you are using screen mirroring or casting featuring to stream content from your smartphone to your TV, you must first ensure that your subscription plan for the streaming service supports this feature at that price tag. Mostly screen mirroring and casting plans are separate from the budget single-screen plans. So check whether your program supports the feature. If your project does not help it, you must pay more and subscribe to a program allowing casting.
If you have a plan that allows screencasting but is still not working, try the next fix.
Connected to the same network:
When using these features, it works well only if both the concerned or connected devices are connected to the same WiFi network. If both devices are connected to the same network but still can’t get the feature to work, move on to the next fix.
Switch to 2.4 GHz:
You can switch between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz when connecting to a WiFi network. You must ensure that your TV and smartphone are connected to the network via a 2.4 GHz setting. You should not face any incompatibility if both are connected at the same frequency. But try the next solution if you struggle to get the feature to work.
Check Airplay setting on TV:
Samsung Smart TVs come with the option to mirror or cast any iOS device using Airplay. So if you are struggling to get the feature working on your iPhone, you should check whether Airplay is enabled on your Samsung Smart TV. If it is disabled, casting or mirroring won’t work at all.
- Open Settings on your Samsung TV
- Open the General section.
- Navigate to Apple Airplay Settings here.
- Ensure that Airplay is turned on here. If it is disabled, you need to select it and turn it on.
- Now restart your TV and try casting or mirroring again.
If it still does not work, try the next solution.
Check your permissions:
When you try to set up the connection between your smartphone and the TV, a bunch of permissions will have to be granted. These permissions show up when you connect the device for the first time. So if you have connected both devices before, remove the phone from the list of devices and try to set up the connection again. You will see a pop-up on your screen asking for permission. You need to tap on the option to enable these permissions. With the permissions enabled, the mirroring or casting feature might work properly.
But if it is still not working, move on to the next solution.
Update smartphone:
The casting feature might not work correctly if you have not updated your smartphone. The app you are casting and the OS on your smartphone must support each other to ensure the connection is seamless. And with updated apps, but outdated OS, the incompatibility problem can exist.
So go to your phone’s settings page and look for any new possible updates. If you see a message for an update popping up, install the update on your smartphone right away. After the update, your phone will restart itself. And after the update, you should be able to use the casting or mirroring feature without issues.
However, try the next solution if you are still struggling with the issue.
Follow the correct steps:
To cast a video from an app like Youtube, you will see a small Cast icon on the app when you are playing the video on your phone. If you don’t see the icon, tap the Share button, and the cast option will appear.
After selecting the cast option, select your Samsung TV as the device you want to cast to. A code will be displayed on the screen. You must enter that code on the other device to establish the connection.
When it comes to mirroring on an iPhone, open up the Control Center and tap the Screen Mirror icon. After that, select your Samsung TV, and it will be done.
Similarly, when it comes to mirroring on your Android, open up the Quick Settings menu by sliding down and then tap on the Screen Mirror or Smart View tile. You will see your Samsung TV here as well. Tap on it to select it.
You can mirror or cast an iPhone or Android device onto your Samsung Smart TV. If you are sure you follow the steps correctly, but the feature is still not working, try the next fix.

- Tap on General.
- Select Apple Airplay Settings.
- Tap on Require code.
- Select Reset paired devices.
- Confirm your action by tapping on remove again.
- Now set up the connection between your Smart TV and iPhone again.
If the screen mirroring or casting feature is still not working, move on to the next solution.
Turn off auto protection time:
Your Samsung TV will have a screensaver that will show up on your screen if your TV has been inactive for two hours or more. Some users claim that this feature sometimes causes issues with mirroring and casting. So you should try disabling it and check whether that solves your problem.
- Open up Settings on your Smart TV.
- Go to General.
- Select System Manager.
- Disable Auto protection time.
Now try using the screen mirroring and casting feature again. If it still does not work, try the next fix.
