Delete all bookmark-related extensions from your Google Chrome. It can conflict with the bookmarks and may cause the issue you are currently facing. In many cases, it was found that iCloud Bookmark Extension was re-uploading deleted bookmarks. Removing this extension did the trick for many users.
If you are not convinced enough to remove bookmark extensions from Google Chrome, you can disable them. Doing this will not remove the extension’s data and thus you can safely try this solution.
To disable an extension on Google Chrome, follow these steps:
- Click the three-dot menu button in the upper-right corner and go to More tools > Extensions.
- Disable all bookmark extensions.
Once you have disabled bookmark extensions, delete bookmarks you don’t need. Close and launch Google Chrome again to check if the problem is fixed.
If those bookmark extensions are useful for you, remove and add them again. This might fix the sync issues with the extension.
Fix 2: Delete Bookmarks From All Synced Devices
Perhaps, those deleted bookmarks show up again because the sync function is not working. Even if you remove the bookmarks and the sync function may not be registering any changes in the bookmarks, therefore you see them again and again.
You could try removing those unnecessary bookmarks on all synced devices.
Fix 3: Pause Bookmark Sync on Google Chrome
If the above solutions have not worked out for you, try pausing bookmark sync on your Google Chrome.
Follow these steps:
- Launch Google Chrome.
- Tap on the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner and click “Settings”.
