Unlock Bootloader on Sprint Samsung Galaxy S10 5G series

Huge thanks to one of the XDA Recognized Developer or Retired Forum Moderator elliwigy, for sharing the news that Sprint’s 5G Galaxy S10 bootloader can be unlocked now. That developer has tested in a Sprint store on a Galaxy S10 5G demo model to unlock it. He was simply able to enable the OEM Unlock option in settings > Developer Options without any extra settings or issues. So, it’s good news for all the Sprint carrier-based Galaxy S10 5G model users.

However, it’s quite unfortunate that other Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10e regular models are still can’t be unlocked the bootloader easily. By unlocking a device bootloader, users can install any Custom ROM, enable root access, and more.

What is Bootloader?

A Bootloader is a code which runs when we turn on our device. This code initializes some hardware and then loads the kernel and ramdisk. Then the booting process started. As we all know after pressing the power button, the device boot screen appears so quickly. That means all those processes and initialization happens in a couple of seconds. Basically, this process is known as Bootloader.

The same concept applies to all electronic devices like Laptop, PC, Smartphones, and more. All the Android smartphone OEM manufacturers lock the device bootloader for some safety reasons. It also doesn’t come in handy for normal users in any way. Only if you’re an advanced user or a developer and flashes Custom ROM or mod files, you will need an unlocked bootloader.

Steps to Unlock the Bootloader on Galaxy S10 5G (Sprint)

First, you need to Enable Developer Options on the Galaxy S10 5G model.
Then open the Settings menu from your handset.

Scroll down and tap on the Developer Options menu.

You will find OEM Unlock option > enable the toggle.
It will ask you “Turn on OEM unlock?”

Just tap on the Enable button to confirm it.
