- Firstly, switch OFF the phone by holding the power button.
- Now, eject the SIM card from its slot and the same for a memory card.
- Reboot the device and voila, check if the problem is sorted or not.
Solution #4 – Step into the safe mode

Safe mode is a different bootable partition pre-installed on your phone that has many different functions. It is mainly used to diagnose the system, software installed on the device and if it is causing any problem or not. If there is any problem with the third party apps that your install, the phone will work seamlessly when in safe mode as it tends to disable all the third-party apps and services all-at-once. This allows you to check the culprit and remove it from the device accordingly. Note that if there is an issue with the apps or services pre-installed, the safe mode will depict problems when in this mode.
- You can enter the safe mode by first switching Off the phone.
- Now, press the power button for a long time until the phone vibrates.
- Depending upon your make and model, press Volume Up or Down button once to enter into the Safe mode.
- Samsung, LG, Nexus, and many brands required Volume down button to enter into this mode while HTC, Vivo, and others require Volume Up button.
- Check out for the ‘Safe Mode’ notation on the left bottom of your touchscreen.
Solution #5 – Proper apps management
Android lets the user download and install hundreds of apps and once without any hassle. But don’t you ever mistake it for being truly healthy for your phone. What many users do is they install a hell lot of apps on their phone and then, they never use it at all. It is imperative to know that apps use physical space on your memory and also on the other resources to keep it working. There are apps that require conducting background processes which consume both battery power and the resources otherwise would have been made available to the apps that are doing any work.
There are a bunch of bloatware that would never delete since it requires a rooted device. On the other hand, there are many apps that you will never use. The pool of these apps create resources deficit and causes performance issues. Thus, uninstalling and disabling it is the best option you have.
For apps that you don’t want to delete, you can disable it by going in the Settings.
Then, proceed to ‘Apps’ and then, tap on the app that you want to disable.
Once it opens, press the Disable button.
For apps that you want you to uninstall, go to ‘Settings > Apps’.
Tap on the app that you no longer require and click on ‘Uninstall’ button.
Solution #6 – Install Anti-virus application
A malware or virus could have penetrated into your system affecting the phone from working properly. Anti-malware and anti-virus applications are available in the Play Store both free and paid versions so that you can download it. Once you have installed it, run a full scan to check for issues with the phone as well as check for any virus and malware and take the necessary steps to quarantine it.
Solution #7 – Calibrate touchscreen on your phone
If your phone’s touchscreen isn’t working properly due to any reasons, you can download one of the many apps available on the play store to check the responsiveness or activeness of the screen. It is called a touch screen calibration and there are certain apps available that lets you check the region of the touch screen which is unresponsive or less accurate than others and so on.
Solution #6 – Wipe Cache Partition
Not all but most of the touchscreen freezing, lagging, hanging, unresponsive sort of problems are caused due to excessive cache memory that builds up if not erased regularly. You can get rid of the cache memory by going to the ‘Settings > Apps’ and then open apps individually and clear cache for each app. Another way around is to go to ‘Settings > Storage’ and tap on the cache memory. But wiping cache partition is a powerful option and must be done at least once a week. It takes just a minute to enter into the recovery mode on your phone and do the needful to curb the phone not charging problem for which, the procedure is as followed.
- Start by switching Off the phone in the first place.
- Then, simply hit the ‘Power’ button and ‘Volume Up’ or ‘Volume Down’ button together.
- Hold the buttons until the phone vibrates and displays Android logo on the screen.
- Release the buttons once you enter the recovery mode.
- Scroll down to the option that says ‘wipe cache partition’ and accept it using the power button.
- Once you do it, reboot the device and hopefully, it will work properly now.
Solution #7 – Do a factory reset
If you have referred any other website, there is a mandatory solution that works for any and every software-related issues and glitches. Factory reset will completely erase the data from the phone leaving no traces of it on your phone. Once you do it, the phone will reboot into factory settings which is how you got it when you bought it. Since factory reset option is available in the recovery mode, you already know how to enter into recovery mode by following the previous solution.
- Once you enter into the recovery mode, scroll using Volume Up/Down button or as per instructed and accept using the power button.
- Next is to tap on ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and then, tap on ‘Yes, delete all data’.
- The phone will prompt you to reboot the device once done.
FDR using the built-in feature
There is a comparatively simple method that you can employ to reset the phone to factory settings.
- It requires you to keep the phone ON and then, go to Settings.
- Proceed to ‘Backup and Reset’ and then, tap on ‘Reset’ button.
- Accept ‘Erase Everything’ and reset the device.

For Moto phones running Android 2.1 and above, press *#0*#.
- Enter the code and it will automatically redirect you to the calibration mode.
- Select touchscreen and press ‘Run’.
- Draw lines on the touch screen across its width and height and check it is working properly or not.
This will give you an idea of the dead zones where the touch screen won’t work or causing issues due to impact from falling on the ground.
Solution #2 – Knock Knock
It seems weird but does you know, you can knock on the touch screen to jumpstart it if isn’t working properly. It is due to the impact of falling that might have disturbed the connection of digitizer cable thus resulting in touch screen not working. Therefore, gently knock at every corner of the screen which might solve the problem as it did for many users around the globe.
Solution #3 – Get a touch screen replacement
Although it may cost you, it is the best decision to take if the screen isn’t working properly. There is no limit as to repair the touch screen everytime it shows a similar error but that will be expensive in a long run and also, unreliable. So, go to the nearest service center and get a replacement. Ask the technician to find the root cause of the problem and then, make the purchase of a new touchscreen.
