If we take a deep dive into the no audio issue, we should mention that after launching MLB The Show 23 on PS5, the sound goes out during the splash screen, and then the in-game audio goes mute, which seems a bug and nothing else. After quitting the MLB The Show 23 game, the PS5’s audio is normal. Luckily, a couple of possible workarounds mentioned below should come in handy. So, without wasting any more time, let’s jump into it.

1. Reboot the Console

First of all, you should restart the PlayStation or Xbox gaming console manually to check if there is an issue with the temporary glitch or cache data. Sometimes issues with the system glitch might trigger multiple conflicts with the program running that’s quite common.

2. Ensure the Audio Device Properly Connected

Ensure to check the audio device properly whether it’s connected or not. Sometimes an improper connection or lost connectivity can trigger no sound or audio-related issues. If you somehow accidentally mute your TV or audio device then you won’t going to hear anything while playing games on PS4/PS5. If the TV or audio device is muted, unmute it from the console.

3. Check for Game Updates

Another thing you can do is check out the game update manually by following the steps below, depending on your gaming console. To do that:

For PlayStation:

From the home menu, open the game Library.
Choose the MLB The Show 23 game.
Press the Options button > Select Check for Update.
If there is an update available, make sure to install the update.
Once done, reboot the console then check for the issue.

For Xbox:

Go to the Guide menu > Choose My Games and Apps.
Now, Navigate to Manage > Select Updates.
Then install the latest version of the MLB The Show 23 game.

4. Change Audio Settings

Try changing the system audio settings on the console so that can be adjusted manually. To do that:

For PlayStation:

Go to the Settings menu > Select Sound.
Head over to Audio Output.
Select your TV or speaker then press the X button on the controller to change it.
Now, try using the Dolby Sound system instead of PCM.
Go to the Sound settings menu > Select AUDIO Format (Priority).
Set Dolby Digital as the priority audio format.
Then press the X key to save the changes.

Note: Some users did mention that switching the game audio to Mono has done the trick.

For Xbox:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Select Profile & System > Tap on Settings.
Choose General > Select Volume & audio output Under Speaker audio.

5. Check for System Updates

Ensure your system software on the respective gaming console runs the latest version. If your system version isn’t running the latest OS, follow the steps below.

For PlayStation OTA:

Go to the Settings menu on the PlayStation console.
Select System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
Check for available updates and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
Once done, reboot the system to apply changes.

PlayStation Manual Update:

Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named ‘PS4’ or ‘PS5’ on a USB drive formatted as FAT32.
Inside that folder, create another folder named ‘UPDATE’.
Download the update file from the official PlayStation website and save it in the ‘UPDATE’ folder.
Save the file as ‘PS4 UPDATE.PUP’ or ‘PS5UPDATE.PUP’.
Plug the USB drive containing the file into your PS4/PS5 console.
Start the PS4/PS5 console in Safe Mode: press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep.
Select the Safe Mode option > Choose Update System Software.
Select Update from USB Storage Device > Hit OK.

For Xbox:

Press the Home button on the Xbox console to open the Dashboard menu.
Now, select Settings from the bottom of the menu > Select All Settings.
Choose System > Select Updates.
Select Update Console (if available) > Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update process.
Once done, make sure to restart the console to apply changes.
