Disable VPN services
Many users do like to use VPN even when they don’t require it in the first place. Funimation already uses the secure protocol to stream their videos so using a VPN is not required. On the other hand, using VPN can disrupt their service as the streaming videos is re-routing through your VPN provider. So, disable your VPN if you’re using one.
Clear cache
Sometimes the Funimation app keeps a lot of corrupt caches and causes issues while watching your favourite shows. Although the app is designed to clear cache from time to time automatically but can be some exceptions. So you have to clear the cache manually.
For Apple TV:
There is no official way to clear the cache on your Apple TV. Simple restart your Apple TV and the cache will be cleared automatically.
For Firestick:
- Go to Settings on your Fire TV & navigate to Applications.
- In Manage Installed Applications, select the app you are having trouble with.
- Select Clear Cache
For Roku:
- Press the Home button five times.

- Press the Up button once, the rewind button twice and the Fast Forward button twice.
- The device will clear the app cache and restart in a few seconds.
Update the App
If none of the above methods is working for you then it probably means you’re using an old app version that is not compatible now. This usually happens as we tend to keep our smartphone apps updated all the time, but when it comes to Apple TV, Roku or Firestick, we don’t usually update apps much often.
For Apple TV:
Open the Settings app on your Apple TV.

Scroll down and select Apps.

Make sure “Automatically Update Apps” is checked.
Now all the apps including Funimation will be updated to the latest version and the issue will be fixed.
For Firestick:
From your Fire TV’s Home screen, select Settings (gear icon) to the far right of the horizontal menu.

Navigate to Application > Appstore.

Turn Automatic Updates On. After a few minutes, all the apps including Funimation will be updated to the latest version and the issue will be fixed.
For Roku:
Press the Home button on your Roku remote.

Navigate to Settings > System > System update.

Select “Check Now” to manually check for updates.
This will update the OS and installed applications to the latest version and the issue will be fixed.
