Fix 1: Check Minimum Requirements

Before moving ahead with any of the technical fixes, make sure that your PC meets the basic requirements. If your device doesn’t meet this, then you will face recording issues. So given below are the Overwolf Recording minimum requirements that you should keep a note of:

Intel CPU: Intel i3 processors that support the Intel Quick Sync encoder.
AMD CPU: AMD Ryzen processors that support the AMF encoder (integrated Vega graphics unit).
OR
GPU: Versions of Nvidia graphics cards that support the NVENC encoder (GT/M versions might not work).
Users with AMD graphics cards can try the AMF encoder, check the supported cards here.

RAM: 8GB or more of RAM (16GB recommended!)

If your setup meets these requirements, but you are still facing the Overwolf not recording error, then try out the below methods mentioned hereby.

Fix 2: Enable Auto Manage in Overwolf

One of the reasons why you could be facing this issue is because Auto Manage might be disabled. If that is the case, then Overwolf will stop recording as soon as the Media folder is full. So make sure to enable the said option as follows. Do keep in mind that in order to make room for new videos, it will delete the old videos from the media folder. To prevent this from happening, you could manually move old videos to any other folder of your choice. With that said, here are the steps to enable Auto Manage in Overwolf:

Launch Game Summary and head over to the Settings option.
Next up, enable the Auto Manage option.
Try recording via Overwolf and check if the issue has been rectified. If not, follow the other steps mentioned below.

Fix 3: Update Graphics Driver

An old or outdated graphics driver might be causing an error or two. Therefore, it is highly recommended to update your drivers to the latest version. The same could be done as follows:

Open Start menu and search for Device Manager.
Click on Display Adapter to expand the menu. Now right-click on your graphics driver and select Update Driver.
In the next window that appears, click on Search automatically for updated graphics drivers.
Windows will then search for the latest drivers and will apply the same. Once done, restart your PC. The Overwolf not recording error should be fixed.

Fix 4: Enable Overwolf Recording Apps

The Replay HUD and the Auto Launch Replay HUD are two of the options in Overwolf that needs to be enabled. If either one of them has been turned off, recording issues are bound to happen. So follow the below instructions to makes sure that both these features have been enabled.

Open the Replay HUD and head over to its Settings.
Check if the Replay HUD and the Auto Launch Replay HUD are enabled, if not, do it right away.
Relaunch Overwolf and see if the recording error gets fixed or not.

Fix 5: Lower Video Resolution and FPS

It might be the case that the video recording resolution and the FPS has been set at a pretty high level. But if your graphics card and GPU doesn’t support high rendering, Overwolf might throw up an error or two. Therefore, consider lowering the video resolutions as well as the Frames Per Settings. This could be done as follows:

Open Overwolf and click on the arrow situated at the top left.
In the menu that appears, click on Settings.
Now click on the Capture option from the left menu bar.
Next, under the Resolution as well as the FPS section, make sure to lower it than what is initially set.
Also, under the Codec option, check if the right codec is selected associated with your graphics card.
Once done, click on Save. Now close Overwolf and relaunch it. If it fixes the Overwolf not recording error well and good, otherwise, follow the next method.

Fix 6: Reinstall Overwolf

If none of the above fixes managed to work out in your favor, then reinstalling the app should definitely do it for you. And for that, first, we need to uninstall Overwolf. This is how it could be done:

Click on the Windows icon and search for Control Panel.
Next up, head over to Programs and click on Uninstall a Program.
Select Overwolf from the menu, right-click on it and select Uninstall.
Once it is removed from your PC, head over to the Overwolf site and download it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation instructions.
