Step 3. Check the message center number
This is the most common reason why any device fails to send or receive any text message. This can also be the reason why you are not able to send them on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Make sure the message center number is correct. For some reason, if it might have changed or modified, the problem often declare the presence. You are recommended to call your network provider and ask for the center number.
Step 5. Wipe Cache partition
Some corrupt system catches could be the factors that are responsible for this issue. Therefore you must pay immediate attention to this to avoid the problem on your Galaxy Note 8. Delete all the catches and this will eliminate the problem for sure. There is no need for you to worry about anything. Just follow the below steps for this.
- Turn OFF your Galaxy Note 8 and Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, immediately release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Next is to press the Volume down key until ‘yes’ is highlighted and press the Power button.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.

Step 6. Backup the files and reset your device
This will remain the last step in this guide. This will let you know whether the problem is due to some technical glitches or problems with the firmware. Actually, it will bring your device into the default mode and will delete all the data. Make sure you disable the “Factory Reset Protection” on your device before proceeding with this. The steps to disable the same are:
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Cloud and accounts.
- Tap Accounts and then tap Google.
- Tap on your Google ID email address in case multiple accounts are set up. If you have multiple accounts setup, you will need to repeat these steps for each account.
- Tap 3 dot icons and choose to remove account.
- Tap “Remove Account” option after this.
Steps to perform a master reset on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8
- Turn off your device and press & hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data/factory reset.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
It is also possible for you to reset your device from the settings and the steps for same are as follows
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Cloud and accounts.
- Tap Backup and restore.
- If desired, tap Back up my data to move the slider to ON or OFF.
- If desired, tap Restore to move the slider to ON or OFF.
- Tap the back button to the Settings menu and tap General Management > Reset > Factory data reset.
- Tap Reset.
- If you have screen lock turned on, enter your credentials.
- Tap Continue and you will be done.
There are pretty good chances that the problem will be gone. However, in case you find it still remains present. You need to visit the nearby Samsung authorized service station. Probably you will get a replacement for your device as it seems to be a hardware issue.
