- Open Drive for Desktop.
- Select Settings and go to Preferences.
- Find the account you want to disconnect.
- Click on Disconnect.
- Now sign in to your account again.
Now try using the sync feature again. If it is still not working, try the next solution.

Having the latest version of the drive client is necessary to ensure that you have all of its features running optimally. Ideally, you can either directly update the application through the app interface or perform a clean reinstall. Since you are struggling with a bug, we suggest a clean reinstall.
- Press the Windows key + I to open the Windows Settings.
- Go to Apps.
- Find Drive in the list of applications, and once you find it, click on Uninstall.
- After this, open the download page of Google drive on your browser.
- Then download and install the latest version of the client to your PC.
Now try using the sync feature again. If it still does not work, try the next solution.
Disable the Firewall and Antivirus:
The firewall and antivirus programs on our systems often roadblock many applications from performing certain actions. Your Drive client could also be struggling because of one of these programs running in the background.
So you should try disabling them from your background and check if that helps.
- Go to Start.
- Select Settings.
- Go to Update and Security.
- Navigate to Windows Defender.
- Select Windows Defender Security Center.
- Choose the option to turn off Windows Defender Firewall for both settings.
- If you have any third-party antivirus program, open it up.
- Go to settings and turn off real-time protection.
Now try using the sync feature again. If it still does not work, turn on the Defender and antivirus again and move on to the next solution.
Run Google Drive as administrator:
In some scenarios, the problem could be administrative access. If your application does not have admin access, it won’t be able to perform the sync operation. So run the Google Drive as an administrator by right-clicking on the application file and choosing run as an administrator.
