Solution 1: Clean Your Fossil Gen 5 and the Charger
If there is some dust either on the back of your Fossil Gen 5 or on the charging pad, the device might not properly connect with the charger. Before putting the device on the charger, make sure to clean both (the smartwatch and the charger) with a soft cloth.
Solution 2: Verify That Watch Is Properly Seated on the Charger
If the charging contact points of the Fossil Gen 5 do not touch the charging pins on the charger, the device won’t charge. So, make sure that the device is properly seated on the charger. Also, verify that there is no gap or anything between the charger and the device.
Solution 3: Restart Your Fossil Gen 5
There could be a system glitch on your Fossil smartwatch which is preventing the device from charging. Simply restarting the device can fix this issue as all running processes and apps get refreshed.
Here’s how you can restart Fossil Gen 5:
Method 1:
- Press and hold the power button (watch crown) until you see the power menu.
- On the screen, tap on the Restart option.
Method 2:
- Press the power button on your smartwatch.
- Go to Settings > System.
- Select Restart.
- Click the Done icon to restart the device.
Solution 4: Reset the Smartwatch
If restarting the device method does not work, probably you need to reset your Fossil smartwatch. All your data on the smartwatch will be lost.
Here’s how to reset your Fossil watch:
- Press the middle button (crown) to wake up the screen.
- Again, press the middle button to open the menu.
- Scroll down and tap on the Settings app.
- Go to System > Disconnect & reset.
- Click the done icon to reset the device.
Solution 5: Check if There’s an Issue With the Charging Cable or Adapter
There might be a problem with the charging cable or the adapter. If any of the two devices are not working, the watch won’t charge. To check if there’s a problem with the adapter, remove the cable from the adapter and plug it into your computer. If the Fossil smartwatch starts charging, you need to get a new adapter. Otherwise, there could be a problem with the charging cable.
If none of the above solutions have worked for you, it’s likely that there’s some hardware problem in the smartwatch. It could be some defective component on the chip or a battery issue. You should contact Fossil custom support.
